I can chalk this up to Yavanovitch quibbling over what it means force the administration to 'raise an issue' with her or just forgetting it, but this seems like a pretty material contradiction within her testimony today
When Yavanovitch was in senate confirmation hearings in 2016, the Obama White House sent staffers to prep her for the hearing by asking her what she could tell about Hunter Biden being named to the board of directors of Burisma- and her scripted answer was to respond I would refer you to the vice president’s office on that'. She herself testified to that today while responding to GOP counsel. But her opening statement explicitly said "Neither {Biden} nor the previous Administration ever raised the issue of either Burisma or Hunter Biden with me."

that's clearly contradictory. If they're prepping her for the confirmation hearing by raising the issue of Burisma & Hunter Biden, they clearly feel its important enough that they need to be sure she'll give the right answer about it.

It also demonstrates that even back in 2016, the white house was concerned over Hunter Biden's connections to Burisma. They clearly knew it was a weak point and at a minimum this shows they were afraid of GOP senators finding out and seeking to ambush her on the question, but it could also be evidence that they were making sure she wouldn't be a threat to the operation. It also really damages the talking points trying to minimize Hunter Biden's relevance when the Obama white house was already singling this out in prep for their Ukrainian ambassador.

If you look over the last pages of this thread, you will see that I have repeatedly said that Trump obviously doesnt give a fuck about corruption, neither in Ukraine nor elsewhere.
Nonetheless, his defense or guilt hinge on whether the Democrats can prove that he was doing something out of the order, something morally reprehensible.

The bigger the corruption by the Bidens, and the worse of a cesspool the situation in Ukraine comes across in general, the easier it will be for Trump to defend himself.
The more outrageous the whole situation in Ukraine appears to viewers who just tuned in and/or didnt follow the whole saga until now, the more convincing it will be when Trump says "how can they blame me for wanting to clean out this mess?"

Similarly, the more corrupt and guilty the Bidens come across in the hearings, the easier it will be for Trump's allies to muddy the waters along the lines of
"what Trump did wasnt good, but it wasnt treason or a 'high crime' or anything. if you think he acted corruptly, then Vice President Biden acted in similarly corrupt fashion. with Biden, this kind of behavior didnt bother Democrats, but now they want to impeach Trump over it? their double standard and partisan bias are obvious, and it shows that this kind of behavior can hardly be considered severe enough to justify impeachment."
