Russia allocated 50000 soldiers to the Charkiw front. It's not enough to conquer the city, they are just there to stretch Ukrainian forces thin from other areas and to destroy equipment/ supply lines. I don't think, we'll see another Mariupul, so Ukraine hasn't lost yet but their military is between a rock and a hard place, right now.

Ya know when those founding fathers of ours fought two wars against the UK in which one of the central cited complaints was involuntarily pressing men into service, the press gangs didn't go after (unapprenticed) kids under 18 and they were being paid fair salaries as seamen, not KIA within a few days. The press gangs targeted the seafaring and longshoremen, raiding the taverns and patrolling the docks.

This type of stuff to me is most bothersome. There's dozens upon dozens of such videos, and for every one filmed, there's probably 100 of these interactions that never got captured and shared. It's such a contrast of what we are led to believe, that all these people are willing patriots that can't wait to keep fighting. In reality, 15 million left the country, the rich bought their kids out of service, while large swaths of the poor are forced to the front. So fucked up, and it's US and EU tax dollars funding these gestapo-esque tactics. Of course these stormtroop characters perform this duty because it's their only way to not end up at the front.

I was expecting more tiktoks of Ukrainians Javelin'ing Russian tanks from this whole affair. A bit disappointed.

2023 was the year of the so called Great Ukrainian Counteroffensive, the whole year the talking was that the Western trained Western equipped elite Ukrainian brigades were going to crush the Russians who were running out of everything and had only their shovels left and a bunch of old rusty WW2 equipment

The Ukrainians were expected to reach the Sea of Azov and take back Crimea before the end of the year (2023)
