You gotta keep in mind the demographic makeup of Israel, which is far younger than other industrialized countries. 28% of their population are below the age of 14, the corresponding figure for the US (latest data from 2015, should be slightly lower by now) is 19.8%. If we look at all persons 19 years or younger, they make up 36% of the Israeli population. So a vaccination rate of 58% actually brings them really close to full vaccination of all adults. The corresponding number to Israel's "58%" in the US would be 65-68%, in Europe, it would be 68-75%.

israel is not going into a lockdown, they're just making tighter restrictions again after saying that vaccines are not as helpful as it was thought, especially pfizer.

the "especially pfizer" part is misleading, since israel has exclusively inoculated its population with pfizer. data from the uk and the us suggest that AZ and moderna arent faring any better.

it should also be stressed again that the main dropoff in efficacy is in terms of symptomatic infection, i.e. cold-like, mild symptoms. the dropoff against hospitalization and death is muuuch smaller.

it's not misleading. it simply means we don't know jackshit.

Irish government decided to vaccinate young people with AZ. German government said they want to vaccinated young people with Pfizer cos AZ is very dangerous for young people.
We're 2hours away from eachother, and we are having completely different information released to public on same topic.
