The ex Fnnish president's argument is flawed and easily refuted, which we did. Why dont you post his video again and allow me to refute his points for you, again.
The problem for alot of people is that they think they can comment on football but not on politics. the fact of the matter is if you know enough about a topic you can argue the point.

for the time being i will watch these:

Understanding War - Part 1 -

He talks about over rationalizing, over dramatizing and underestimating the future.

However, the fact is that Putin is rationale, its just that Alexander lacks the ability to comprehend that rationale or lacks the will to want to understand it, instead he just projects. The one glaring omission from this video is no reference to Nato expansion or the US backed coup in 2014. So while he mentions the notion of spheres of influence he does not delve into it at all. Alexander argues about people psycho-analysing, and then he proceeds to do just that. Its mystifying. He then talks about Russia being isolated and a pariah state - well we saw where that has led us. Russia is now more self sufficient then ever and they have looked for and found new trade partners, all the while the US and the EU continue to trade goods with Russia (albeit restricted). He closes off this lecture by looking forward. He says that Putin wanted this war and cannot afford to lose it. He refers to 3 scenario's:

1. Ukraine wins. Putin loses - this is at odds with his comment Putin cant afford to win.
2. Ukraine is divided into two - this appears to be the most likely scenario (culminating in a frozen conflict)
3. Russia nukes ukraine - he does not envisage this but its an option.

It is clear that Russia did not want this war and were not prepared for it. It is clear that the US wanted this war and Ukraine knew this was coming and were prepared.
I note no where in this lecture does he reference an attack on Nato. They are only saying this now in order to drum up more support for Ukraine.

As should be clearly evident to all, Putin wants crimea and he wants a land bridge to crimea. He has referenced the lands east of the dniepo river and he has not conscripted enough men to do more "stuff".

feel free to try to refute if you are able to.

this is 1 of 19 video's as i understand it. So ye, his rationalizing is dog shit, he over dramatized and he underestimated Russia's ability to weather the sanctions.

You can't honestly believe your own shit?

What is there to refute, you don't even have an argument; Your simply claiming he is wrong and you are right without any reasoning.

Read your first sentence, do you understand rational and rationale are two different words?

What you have shown again is a personal attack and the inability to argue your position. your utterly hopeless. This was your opportunity to support the claims:

1. that putin wanted this war
2. w/e you could spin about spheres of influence
and
3. w/e you could spin about sanctions

instead you completely deflected. do you see why I dont bother trying to converse with you now ?

if you were able to respond to the 3 points here you would be standing on much firmer ground.

I can see now why you don't flesh out specifics when pushed. When you actually try it equates to " nope, that expert is wrong as I have said before"
Your all over the place talking about sanctions, nuclear attacks and anything you can to avoid explaining the literal threats from NATO.
The threats that you claim constitute the reasons and justification for Putin to invade.
And unsurprisingly throw out the personal attack nonsense.

My views are aligned with Kotkin, Plokhy and Stubb.

That there is no tangible threat from NATO to Russia or Russians but there definitely is a threat to Putin's regime from ethnically and culturally close peoples becoming closer to democracy.

What I know you believe is the case. NATO is perceived as a threat by Putin and ergo war was inevitable.
What are the literal threats?
What were they?
Missiles being placed in Kiev? The sane ones that can already be stationed in Poland, Finland or in Kaliningrad on Russuas side
You dodged answering the specifics of this before, maybe you can answer now?
Was it a NATO invasion?
By the same NATO countries that
a. Didn't spend close to NATO targets on defence fir decades.
b. Won't commit to longterm defence manufacturing and retooling
c. Did massive trade with Russia that underpinned the entire German manufacturing sector

And before you ChatGPT a metaphor about backgardens or sleeping with Russias wife again.
That is not a credible response.

What were the specific threats that justified the invasion?
What were they?

1600 pages of claiming incredulously that NATO expansion threatened Russia into invading. That Russia never planned for this war.
But never actually explains the threats in real terms.

Now is your chance to set the record straight.

This your chance but let me explain what I think will happen.

You won't lay out the specific threats posed to Russia.
Claim you've somehow already explained although you haven't.
Debunk junior will post his map.
The migrant hating Pro terrorist Canadian will spam post.
You'll pat them on the back and rational actors will be none the wiser as to your justification of a pointless war.
