In college they tell you that no question is a stupid one, that doesn't hold true in reality. Asking a nonsensical question serves to reveal how little one may know about a particular topic. Putin doesn't really need to put his hands on the scale domestically because there's no real opposition. Let's say the elections are tampered with, do you really think more than 50% of the voter base is against his vision of Russia? The average Russian today, may or may not be against the war, but he/she shares Putin's view that the west has encroached into Russia's sphere. So this question is irrelevant. These types of questions are only relevant in elections where there's an actual chance that 2 or more candidates have a chance.
