I knew it was over when all the lawyers I follow, who usually refuse to touch things that aren't their specialty, said more or less at the same time that Trump's interference at the DOJ is a level of corruption never seen in American history.

There's probably no turning back from this. We have a party that refuses to uphold the law on any level if it's one of their own. I just hope the things I thought in 2016 are correct, and the GOP really is just taking a last hurrah before demographic changes make them unelectable.
