Kamala Harris's selection means that the Democratic ticket will not have someone with an Ivy League degree for the first time since 1984

The populists will love this.

I saw how Hillary really dug into foreign policy. Is that supposed to be a point in her column?

Sure. I'd argue she's one of the better post-Cold War ones we've had. Granted, it's not like competition is particularly fierce. Trump's are complete garbage, Bush fucked up badly in his first term and so did Clinton.

So really, we're looking at Obama's (first term was better than 2nd IMO) and the 2nd term of Bush and Clinton.

Oh Hillary is WAY more talented. If she hadn't married Bill, she easily would have ended up on an appellate court or SCOTUS. Hillary went to Yale for her JD. Harris went to fucking Hastings. They aren't even in the same universe. Hillary also REALLY digs into the minutia of things whereas Harris couldn't decide wtf she stood for because she doesn't know the first thing about policy.

I don't think it's possible for Harris to get to Hillary's favorability levels. Hillary was under the microscope for so much longer. Kamala entered national politics in 2016. 4 years vs. 24 years is pretty significant.

Regarding policy, I think there are certainly wedge issues that people care about (guns, abortion, etc.) but no one gives a shit about economic policy, foreign policy, etc. If you can't explain an issue or vision in a single sentence, it's no good.

Hillary chose the wrong career. She'd been a top notch bureaucrat, but she was always a shitty politician.

IceMage called her impressive... but in fact, every major thing she did throughout her political life was a failure. When Bill trusted her with the healthcare reform in the 90s, she either botched it or sold out to big pharma, either way, the initiative went nowhere. Then she was the heir apparent in 2008, but got defeated in her own party's primary by an upstart first term senator with far less name recognition. Then she was SoS, where she oversaw countless tactical and strategical disasters whose fallout still plague the world. Then she ran again in 2016, this time as an even more prohibitive favorite among Democrats, yet still had to coordinate with a biased DNC to keep Bernie at a distance. Followed by a general election campaign where she somehow managed to lose against Donald fucking Trump.

But enough of Hillary, let's go back to Harris:

In her first statewide race, for AG of CA in 2010, she underperformed like hell, only narrowly eked out a win by 0.8% while Democrats won the Governor's and House race by 13% and 10%, respectively:

I don't feel like defending Hillary in a forum filled with Trump supporters... at some point it gets old.

But concerning the VP pick. No reasonable choice from Biden would appeal to you guys. Understanding that, who do you think would've been a better pick politically?

In the past few weeks/months I've heard pundits repeatedly say that the undecided moderates are a myth and that the nation is so polarized and everyone already knows who they are going to vote for, that the only winning strategy is to appeal to your base and energize your voters so that you can turn out a larger vote. They were saying Biden needed to lean into a progressive stance and rally the BLM movement

Unfortunately, the moderates aren’t a myth. The nation is polarized between center right “moderates” who will vote for Democrats and far right dumbfucks who will vote for Trump.

Susan Rice or Keisha Lance Bottoms. Rice is far smarter and more well-qualified, Lance Bottoms has actual executive experience and seemed to have some common sense.

But I know that a lot on the right get absolutely triggered by Rice, and get less triggered than me by Harris, so there's probably no definitive answer.

It is perfectly possible that Harris was the best choice for Biden from an objective point of view. I personally just cant stand her and think she's the wrong choice, both for the Biden campaign and for America.

Susan Rice has zero campaign experience. I think she would do well if she was APPOINTED to the job but it would be a pretty big risk. Also, BENGHAZI!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Lance Bottoms is not qualified to be President and her city is handling a crisis right now. Leaving mid-crisis is a horrible look which is why Gretchen didn't get the job either.
