Okay, so your opinion is that gang members, people doped out on anything from opiates that'll effectively prevent pain to PCP or meth, amateur boxers, serial killers, etc. can all be dealt with via a couple of guys with submission-based martial arts training?
I mean, let's say you get this serial killer into an arm bar. So what? They aren't giving up, they'll force you to break their arm just so they can get at you with the other. Ever try to cuff someone in an arm bar?
Like, I just don't quite get how you think that BJJ is going to be an awesome tool. While it may or may not have been handy in this case, in a general sense, police exist to enforce the law, not go hand to hand against anyone who takes issue at the law.
Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed Walker: Texas Ranger too. TV isn't reality though.
Unrelated note: It was reported last week that Chuck Norris caught Covid19. The virus will remain in quarantine for 3 more weeks.
We deal with those people in the psych ward and sometimes its me and a few old ladies
I was training a dude and on his first day he seen a naked man with a swatiska on his chest going berserk in the ER doing those weird movements people on meth do. Welcome aboard.
We use NAPPI and it keeps everyone safe. Nonabusive physical and psychological intervention. Its great because identifies the whole spectrum of violence and if you know the steps you can identify where you're at and walk backward to deescalate. It also trains things like where to stand in relation to one person aggressing another without putting yourself in too much risk. We do how to break out of chokes, how to get someone out of our hair if they get a grip, how to hold onto a person assaulting you until help comes, how to "assist" someone to a safe position without hurting them too much.
We all train once a year. Its a full eight hour day. Its a pain in the ass but i use the training all the time.
