rest in rip in peace to Yang’s campaign

hopefully he runs as a (R) in 2024 and his ideas continue to spread
to me he is this generation’s Ross Perot - identifying problems and presenting solutions to issues that already exist and will affect us dramatically in 10-20 years

I mean there could be crossover to get Bernie on board but it's irrelevant because Bernie wouldn't support funding it with a VAT which kind of you would need for it to be feasible.

This would require a big re alignment of the Republican party and I can't see this occurring with 4 more years of Trump. If Trump loses in this November, it will be interesting to see where the Republican party goes in 2024.

The Republicans like TCock and Icemage are a minority in their own party now.

I really doubt Bernie will ever support UBI. his answers on automation in the first debate show he doeesnt think its going to be a problem moving forward. he's in the boomer mentality of "new jobs will be created" without ever doing simple math of jobs in jobs out, let alone which sectors and regions will see the worst issues. also from a general standpoint his vision is an impowered workforce, so admitting 30-50% of the people u want to empower will lose all their power is bad PR and a confusing message to voters. and lastly i'd say he has EVERY tax dollar earmarked for policies like healthcare and education, so the idea that he'll have money left over for UBI when he already wants to double or triple the federal tax collections doesnt work out for me. if anything is left it will be scraps and not enough to bank UBI. likely it would get pilfered in 10 years for a failing social security program, 10 years before its direly needed for UBI.

At this point, Yang's path might just to remain in the public sphere, potentially seek a cabinet position and if democrats win in 2020, seek position in cabinet or potentially run for office in New York or he might just stay out of politics but keep pushing for UBI/VAT. He's probably planning short term with the idea to run again in 2024 if Trump wins or plan a 2028 bid.

But tough shit that we might just have to deal with more fallout of AI and not get out ahead of it.

i had a bernie supporter in my living room asking me about AI. as i explained the # of jobs that will be lost he said "but couldnt like workers band together and take back the means of production to protect themselves". it was at this moment i lost all hope that Bernie could embrace UBI. its antithetical to his worker empowerment direction for america. but id love to be shocked.

i do hope Yang runs in 2024, and stays away from state or local politics. maybe writes a book on economically crumbling areas Michael Moore style.
