No explanations are given as to cause of death at this point.

Russia’s most prominent opposition leader was jailed in January 2021 after he returned to Russia from Germany where he was being treated for poisoning with military-grade poison Novichok.

He was quickly sentenced and seen his sentence increased several times. His health has also visible deteriorated in the last year, with him showing considerable weight loss in his rare video addresses from jail at the various court sessions where he faced new charges.

While not very popular with the Russian voters, who respect him as a anti-corruption fighter, but don’t see him as a candidate for president, following his jailing in 2021 there were two large country-wide protests as Russians were shocked at the heavy handed way the state treated him.

If reports of his death are confirmed, there is likely to be a similar short-lived protest but that is unlikely to turn into a revolution that could oust Russian President Vladimir Putin.

It will also hurt Putin at the polls in the upcoming presidential election slated for the middle of March.

The Kremlin is likely to flood the streets with riot police and ban any public gatherings if there are calls for new protests.

Russia never stated that those were fortresses that would never fall if I remember correctly (And we all know that they had a relatively small force available so falling back was the right thing to do).

But more importantly todays news is about fortress Avdiivka and deflections won't change that ;)


Kiev's Banderite regime declared Avdiivka a fortresses and Zelensky himself has visited Avdiivka several times in the past. Why would he do that if this place doesn't matter?

To underline the importance, Ukraine sent their elite Nazi Azov brigade to save the day but they got badly mauled just like they got mauled in Mariupol and also during the summer counteroffensive...

Avdiivka represents even less territory than the Ukrainians seized in their summer offensive, which wasn't much. At monumental cost. Congrats, Ivan.

Fall of Robotyne (population of ~500, bunch of farms) --> important Ukrainian victory / strategic importance / and so on

Avdiivka (fortress frontline city since 2014, population 31K, industrial areas) --> not important / monumental costs :thumbsup:

You sound like a sore loser who's tossing in the usual Russian names when he's upset

If its true that Navalny was killed it is quite depressing.
