I can't even comprehend how anyone is supposed to be both knowledgeable about this conflict and pretend there is a moral high ground to the American position.
We're "supporting a democracy" in a country where we overthrew the democracy, and we're "opposing Russian aggression" by sending weapons to Nazis.
And they barely even hide it. The DW news broadcast this afternoon showed footage where I noticed a certain blurred symbol painted on a Ukrainian tank, wonder what that coulda been. The commander of the Avdiivka force is the leader of the country's Nazi party. The leader of the whole military just did a photoshoot with the Nazis under a big portrait of the most famous Nazi collaborator from their history.


I'm not going to just throw this on the stack of the new normal and forget about it. We're arming actual Nazi war criminals, in 2022, in 2023, in 2024. We know that the guy we're sending weapons to gives speeches about how the white race needs to defeat the jews, and our best excuse is that most of the arms and treasure is pilfered by corrupt bureaucrats before it reaches the Nazis.

I think the story of “democracy defending itself from illegal Russian invasion” trumps the story of “there are some really scary people that worship SS war criminals” if money can be made for domestic US weapons industry.

Don’t forget that you also need to rearm all European allies who have dumped their old weapon stocks into the meatgrinder and have to order new and fancy toys.
