Got anything at all?

60-80 people killed when a Russian transport jet crashed somewhere near Bolgorod, unknown circumstances
what is known is that it was carrying Ukrainian POWs

supposedly 65 POWs and 6 russian crew

Pretty awful all hands up. A revisionist war with no clear aims turning into supposedly brotherly peoples killing each other.

Won't be clear who or how many were on board until both sides, or just Ukraine acknowledge there was Ukrainian POWs.

oh it could get spicy

One ukrainian source took credit for shooting down the IL-76, while Russia accused Ukraine of shooting it down with a Patriot system. I'm also seeing sources claiming the Russians said that it was a flight that Ukraine was notified about under a flag of truce, flying in a zone they don't normally fly because of the AA threat, carrying POWs for an exchange that was supposed to take place today. Can't confirm the Russian claims (I mean, confirm that they even made the claims) easily since Russian-language sources are much harder than english Ukrainian propaganda sites to find
Won't surprise me if Ukraine whitewashes this so probably want to archive it:

Ukrainska Pravda's sources in the Armed Forces confirmed the downing of the aircraft, saying that "it was their job". Sources in the General Staff stated the plane was carrying S-300 anti-aircraft missiles.

So we might be looking at a far more significant incident, if Ukraine shot down a plane carrying their own POWs headed to a prisoner exchange that they agreed to and had already committed to deconfliction for the flight path

/e Russian sources also saying the same plane was used in previous prisoner exchanges multiple times and was kept at its own closed airport just for prisoner exchanges in the airspace that was otherwise empty

They're talking about it live in the Duma (1:30 pm), at least that can be streamed and confirmed

I mean we memory holed the bit where they exchanged POWs under a promise not to return to battle and than returned Azov commanders to the front lines in some naked perfidy but that's a lot more technical and procedural and less dramatic than footage of a plane falling out of the sky and exploding in a giant fireball. If they really blew up their own POWs under a flag of truce during a prisoner exchange that might be the worst single incident for egg on Ukraine's face since this war started

ye but i mean so what, shit happens right? IMO just add this incident to a very long list you know? they bombed their own people indiscriminately for 7 years, they knew this war was coming, they, or the US bombed the pipeline, the war didnt go as intended, putin didnt die of cancer and russia didnt break up, ukraine were told not to negotiate with russia, and they are now literally fighting to the last man. if an enemy plane is in the air so what if it had ukrainians in it, shit happens. i would not say this was ukraine's biggest mistake or egg on face.

I dunno this is a lot of feces to smear across whoever the blame gets pinned on
already word going out that it might have been Polish/French little green men operating the patriot/iris batteries because Ukrainians don't get to do it, and they might not have been looped into Ukrainian deconfliction
Ukraine going out and taking credit instantly as soon as footage of the plane emerged, and the fact that there's dramatic footage that will get replayed on the American 5 o'clock news, might give it some real staying power

There are no rules in love and war. They all are going to be broken at some point, mostly from the side with a disadvantage.
