I think the west indirectly is hinting to Ukraine to accept concessions and find peace because the help is not indefinite. This is an example of "hey look how much worse can it get if you insist on returning everything"

Not that I don't think Russia is able to do it, but the cost in humans would be so extreme in actually making it happen. The yellow, maybe, Dnipro and Kharkov are such big cities though and would require a huge ramping up of this war.
