it is guaranteed that the US will continue to fund Ukraine, the question is how much. Also, if those numbers are correct then the west has to date spent more then 235 billion on Ukraine since 2014.

I think USA wants Ukraine to hold elections so Zelenski can be replaced

they already planned for this:

I doubt support for Ukraine will wane. It’s too convenient of a lever to pull to achieve tangible results.

I see this bickering over funding Ukraine as some DC back room games a-la House of Cards - whereby agencies like Pentagon, CIA and etc are deciding how to allocate limited resources budgeted by Congress between Israel, China, Russia, Iran, domestic terrorism and etc.

In the grand scheme of things they are united by one common goal - ensure Pax Americana and dominance going forward by playing Kissingers realpolitik. You can’t blame them for looking out for themselves as every other nation should.

Definitely agree. The "how much" imo, depends on uncle Sam's willingness to get involved in the Red Sea. Al Shabaab in Somalia is starting to get involved with the houthis naval blockade of Israeli tankers, and yesterday an American ship destroyed a drone trying to attack it.

I can't see Ukraine as being the priority for American financial aid anymore as America's monopoly on protecting international shipping routes has now come into question.

But who knows, Putin just said he'd mobolize another 500k soldiers so maybe the US will see this as a threat that has to be matched

as expected. this was referenced as a natural step, several months ago. is there a source, well i guess i can go find it.

https://www.theguardian.com/world/2023/jan/06/russia-preparing-mobilise-extra-500000-conscripts-claims-ukraine

you have to shake your head in disbelief over this statement :

"Ukraine’s military intelligence has claimed that Russia is set to order the mobilisation of as many as 500,000 conscripts in January in addition to the 300,000 it called up in October, in another apparent sign that Vladimir Putin has no intention of ending the war."

say rather:

Russia knows that they need to conscript more men to get a result, and thats what they are doing. This is an existential threat to them (no one wants nukes / an enemy, in the house next door) so ofc they are not going to simply roll over and go home.

They are confusing conscription with mobilizing reserves.

Russia has a general draft and everyone below 30 have to serve whether they like it or not unless they have a valid exception. Being a conscript doesn’t necessarily mean you will be sent to Ukraine as there are millions of support functions inside Russia you can perform.

General mobilization is not needed at this stage as Russia is not on a wide scale offensive (never say never).

Rabobank put out an interesting analysis wrt US inflation (with some interesting remarks on dominance of international seas. I strongly reccomend reading it):

Remember fellow tankie, "Ukraine is an existential threat to Russia (no one wants nukes / an enemy, in the house next door). Ukraine has invaded far too many countries, their warmongering days are ending!" Should Russia win, next existential threats will be Baltics/Poland. Nobody wants to have nukes/an enemy in the house next door.
