Is anyone claiming that Ukraine will come out of this war in better shape than they were going in?
On the flip side, if Ukraine doesn't eventually collapse and surrender unconditionally, this war will have been a disaster for Russia too. They already controlled Crimea and the Donbass before their invasion; NATO accession was effectively impossible. If they don't get all of Ukraine in the end, they will have fought a lengthy and extremely costly war, exposed their military as a paper tiger to the whole world, burnt through a good chunk of their Soviet era ammo and gear, pushed Ukraine even more toward the EU, and permanently alienated the best customers of their fossil exports... all just to seize control of a tiny strip of land between Crimea and Donbass. They could have built an artificial land connection to Crimea through the Kerch Strait made of pure gold for half the price tag, lol.
The answer is
Yesthe pro Ukraine camp is claiming that Ukraine must become a NATO member / EU member because that's way better for them than just being neutral and just have normal relations with Russia. Ukraine's win will be NATO / EU membership.
The fact is that relations with Russia will never be normal again once Ukraine becomes a NATO member, it will be Iron Curtain 2.0 and Cold War 2.0 with insanely high cost associated for both sides (armaments race etc) just like Cold War 1.0.
All of this is crystal clear, I don't get why you're even trying. NATO's expansion war (insisting to reel in a corrupt, impoverished country that has nothing to offer other than their geographical location) has turned into a complete disaster and has completely reset all progress made since 1991.
Nothing new here, the West routinely fucks up when interfering in other nations' politics but hey some people never learn
I expected you to reply in the EU topic btw where I posted about the catastrophic German balance sheet showing Germany's manufacturing economy is slowly going down the drain because of all of this but you let it slip...
