This forum, and especially this sub forum, from what I have seen, sees western democracy as the only suitable form of government, this is a reflection of the wider western position. My own view is that each form of government can prosper and succeed (or fail) down the path it walks.

If China has the opportunity at some point it will do it. When a country let its people to use waste oil for their food there is absolutely nothing to expect from it.

Let me say in my own form of words
For a country that got of of extreme " Communism" 40 years back and they just started opening up in 1980s
1.4 Billion Population.
People were still eating tree bark and Field mice back in the 80s and 90s due to poverty .
A sudden economical boom so fast that a lot of people couldn't catch up in time.
You will get people doing the shittest of all stuff just to make " money ".

You can't expect a country that is so backwards in time and change to become a "civilized" country within such a short period of time.
The children aren't Harrow, Eton , Havard educated when they decided to open up.

My dad escape the cultural revolution before it started and went to Hong Kong and End up in Singapore where I was born.
Although I do not have first hand experience of what happened in China, My father had.

It was really screwed up. Perhaps a lot of people around the world have too high of an expectation from China thinking they will go western style civilized within 1 or 2 generation they can't.

And while we are talking about waste oil for their food.
Let me give another example of the Flint Michigan Water crisis which started in 2014 and only ended around 2019.
Similar shit, different day, different country.

I think you don't get it, China has so insane policies regarding individual's rights that the women don't even want to make children.
At some point the governement will have to FORCE them to have children ?
It's absolutely impossiblet to make equivalency with free world countries, IMPOSSIBLE.

You are in China, you start to talk about Tibet, Uyghurs, Democratic elections, AI face recognition cameras in the street, etc
=> Your social credit score fall, you lose your job, your family & friend lose their jobs, you go to prison or you disappear.
Chinese's authorities are now billionaires (check the evolution), these people have no limit, no respect for life, and the Hans are extremely racists.
Soon or later they will transform their own people in cyborg-slaves, if you want my realistic opinion.

The worst enemy of China is China itself btw. We go back on Ukraine.
