i would not personally compare anyone to a Nazi, but thats just me.
in terms of the narrative, you probably saw the blinken cringe moment re: china, dictator comment from biden - question for you - how does russia typically respond to articles like this, do they respond ? compared to how the chinese respond.
what i mean is, russia is very measured. they seem to do proportionate responses. you do this, we do that, etc. do they react in the same way as the chinese or do they roll with the punches ? i am referring specifically to media, not events.
It’s hard for me to judge as I’m not living in Russia and do not own a TV for 18 years now. Based off internet alone I would say that attacks like these unite Russians as they are shown that the stakes in this game are being raised and if major western outlets compare them to Nazis - this means that there could be absolutely no thought of losing this conflict.
Im also personally saddened by the complete collapse of Russian liberal movement who have dishonored themselves through a multitude of scandals where their links to USAID and numerous other organizations were uncovered which completely negates their political weight in the society. I feel my personal political compass has drifted away from a left leaning liberal to a conservative right during the course of the past two years.
I’m also seeing a rise of a new wave of nationalistic bloggers targeting different audiences in Russia (working class, TikTok, intellectuals). Russia is also making it easier to repatriate for Russians abroad (citizens and ex-citizens alike, eg new law on citizenship of 26th October 2023) and I personally know two Russians who have quit executive positions (one Managing Director and one Team Lead) at major public Western companies headquartered in Amsterdam and returned to Moscow.
