Confirmed by a Ukrainian ^^

Confirmed by the guy who was negotiating the said ceasefire who happens to be parliamentary leader of the biggest party in Ukranian Rafa (Zelensky party). I know self education is not your strength, but you should try to do some independent research once in a while to keep yourself up to date.

Btw are you happy now? Or do you need Boris Johnson direct confession as well?

You can lead a horse to water but if he does not want to drink, thats on him, not you.

-------------

staying on topic, as i understand it Ukraine does not want neutrality they want:

1. all their land back
2. to join nato

this position has not changed officially, since last year (since after the scuppered negotiations), and the deal from last year is clearly no longer on the table.

Well that is a more accurate way of saying "Now confirmed by Ukrainians"
Albeit and addmittedly this is semantic.
I did in fact research who he was, as I'd never heard of him. Russian born politician now faction Leader of the Servant of the people party.

There's no doubt that what your reporting appears to have been what took place.
I read fully the article you posted about the negotiations, the one with direct quotes from Bennet and the Turkish diplomats; And while I take their comments for what they are, I still think that Bennet would suggest that a deal was made.
After all it was his ego up for scrutiny if the talks failed, which they inevitably did fail.

Also I would add your ad hominem directed towards me is less than constructive but I'll choose not to respond in kind.

I’m not sure how Ukraine plans to get their land back (Crimea / Donbass) without an overwhelming military victory.

Neutrality (no NATO and no CSTO) with explicit military guarantee akin to Article 5 by the West / Turkey / Russia / whoever else wants to join - could be a solution to ensure whatever remains of Ukraine doesn’t get attacked by Russia again if they are so concerned.

I doubt this is in the interest of the NATO block as they are giving something away (guarantee) without getting the manpower in return (as well as political setback in terms of eastward expansion limits).

The deal is off the table for the time being as Russians think they have an edge as western support falters and they have a chance at winning attrition war.

They are not gaining land actively though so acquiring Odessa/Nikolaev to cut off sea routes might be a pipe dream unless a widescale mobilization to raise troop sizes to 1-2M is implemented which is extremely unpopular (don’t forget Russia will have elections in March 2024).

In any case thousands more will die it seems until the leaders involved sit down and talk this through to figure out a way forward.
