I literally just said they intentionally obfuscated the goals. It's nothing new and even the changing of goals can happen in any situation.
In this case that change is directly linked to real time failures of Russias military to achieve what it set out to achieve.

It's the same if we look at Ukraine's counteroffensive and the original goals that many media outlets ran with; Of cutting the land bridge. Or even ridiculously I read an article talking about liberating Crimea.
And now we here about Ukraine getting much of the landrbridge within artillery range being a tangible goal.
Ukraines military failed in the goals that were widely reported on by western media. And then they goals change.

Goals change, the goalposts move. Its war, its a dynamic situation. The dishonest position is to somehow imagine Russia is immune to that effect.

Goal 1 doesn’t require a military intervention and could have been agreed upon before the war (it’s not a condition to join EU).

Goal 2 doesn’t require a military intervention and Ukraine will have to fulfill anyway it if they ever wish to join European Union at some point in a few decades once they fix their economy and political system.

Goal 3 has been more or less achieved.
