Iirc, the place has high strategic value to Russia since Ukraine was able to shell the airport of Donezk from there. From Ukraine's pov, it's far less valuable, at least in my personal opinion. They won't turn the tides of this war by firing at that airport and Adviivka isn't a hub for potential Ukrainian counteroffenses, or for preventing Russian advances toward Kramatorsk. As long as they can't break through in the south, holding Adviivka has mostly symbolic value to Ukraine.

I'd say that was fairly accurate. It would have symbolic value for either side to retain/take control of it.

Modern warfare is now under drones surveillance and it is no longer possible to proceed such operations without alerting the enemy in minutes.

Meaning that the one having ready, long range, and precise artillery, will have some kind of advantage.

600 days of war and Russian military doing the same bonehead tactics.

Imho both (nepotim+lack of ncos) are linked, it's obvious. I guess Ukraine partially suffered from this, but got more or less modernized.
