I think this guy is overblowing the strategic importance of holding Avdiivka. If you look at his twitter feed, it's clear that he's an ultra-hawkish guy whose agenda is to maintain or even expand the arms supplies to Ukraine. Imho, that's why he's going "oh no, Ukraine might still actually lose if we don't send them even more arms".
