Another idea : if you have no original thoughts of your own - just spam the thread with pages of Ukranian propaganda videos and call everyone who disagrees with you a ruscist.

This was a pretty interesting interview in Berliner Zeitung with Gerhard Schroder about German domestic politics, Russia/Ukraine, Israel, AfD and so on.

Our resident germans ^fender ^Black XistenZ and ^Bananii might be able to comment whether he is full of shit or not. He is considered a pro-Putin guy.

Schroeder was best buddies with Putin throughout his entire chancellorship, they celebrated their bromance very publicly. One of the last decisions Schroeder made as chancellor before leaving office in 2005 was signing the contracts for the construction of Nord Stream 1. During his last months as chancellor, he also made sure that Germany's public investment and development bank KfW gave Gazprom a loan of 1 billion euros. One month after leaving office, he became the chairman of the board of directors of the Nord Stream PLC. In 2017, he also became the chairman of the board of directors of Russian oil company Rosneft. And in 2022, he declined an invitation to join the board of directors of Gazprom.

Furthermore, he was constantly lobbying for Russian energy companies and geopolitical interests ever since 2005. For example, he lobbied for the Russian South Stream pipeline and against the rivaling Nabucco pipeline. So, simply put, Schroeder is as corrupt and full of shit as it gets. Nothing he says with regard to Russia/Ukraine has any credibility.

It’s good that we know his bias. How many current politicians serve eg the interests of US or Israel at the expense of German voters? Having said that - does what we know about his bias warrant ignoring his opinion on eg domestic German politics? If anything he is a guy that knows how to get elected as a chancellor so he knows how to “play”.

I didn't claim that everything he says in this interview is automatically wrong. ;)

It should be noted, though, that Schroeder's domestic policies were largely a disaster too, he was consistently making decisions to the benefit of large corporations and the detriment of working people. The "little guys" used to be the core voters of Schroeder's Social Democratic Party and his politicies blatantly stabbed them in the back. Neither his party nor German wages in the bottom half of the job market have truly recovered from this. So truth be told, I'm not really inclined to give his opinions on domestic policy too mugh weight either.

What is your best estimate for Russian losses?

I don't know, I live thousands of miles away and have no access to first hand reliable info. What I do have is a nose for bullshit. When it's acknowledged (and this point isn't actually debated) that 80% of casualties are due to artillery and Ukrainians themselves acknowledge for majority of the war that Russia has between 5-10:1 arty advantage you can't logically come to figures where Russian losses would be far outpacing Ukrainian. It's just basic critical thinking.

Very good interview between Elon Musk, David Sacks and Vivek on threats of WW3 and the current risks. Would recommend. They touch on Russia-Ukraine war, China, Iran, etc.
