Russia had 6 months for fortify a defensive line and bed in new recruits. The Ukrainians are attempting manoeuvres that no NATO or Russian army for that matter, would attempt. Mainly because of the lack of air superiority.
Imagine the first gulf war, but instead of overwhelming air superiority the coalition have 5% of the air power the Iraqis had.

I personally was never convinced Ukraine could liberate substantial territory barring a massive Russian collapse of moral; What they have done is bring Crimea and Russian supply lines into range of Ukrainian missiles, and that is not negligible.

Also I didn't write the Russians are "getting beaten so badly" Those are your words. And an infantile description it is.

Are you watching any content from the Russian offensive in Avdiivka? Or are you basing your opinion on whether or not huge swathes of Ukraine is liberated from Russia? That's quite a narrow spectrum if that is the case.
I'd suggest you watch some recent footage for yourself, and then consider how you would describe what is going on.

1) Ukranian counteroffensive fizzled against Russian defense lines.

2) Russians are trying to get back near Avdeevka and Kupiansk.

3) Conflict seems to be drone heavy on both sides.

4) Overall there seems to be a massive crackdown on frontline bloggers on Ukranian and Russian side (Wagner affiliated bloggers were the most prolific, RU MOD seems to have cracked down on them). Majority of information we get these days is second hand and unreliable or outdated. Ukranian / British MOD info seems to be complete garbo (300k dead on RU side, lol anyone believes this crap?).

5) The world seems to be prioritizing Israel conflict over Ukranian conflict at the moment.

This was a pretty interesting interview in Berliner Zeitung with Gerhard Schroder about German domestic politics, Russia/Ukraine, Israel, AfD and so on.

Its kind of a moot point to say Ukrainian or Russian figures are innacruate or exaggerated, that's obviously the case.

I agree. Every side tries to exaggerate the losses of their opponent and minimize their own losses. We can only guess about real losses through excess mortality and/ or public obituaries.

You cannot call this “intelligence” if it only tries to shower one side with desperate propaganda. Eg comment from today equally applies to Russia and Ukraine. Ukraine even more as they lose more in wounded compared to the size of their economy which will need to be weened off at some point from EU/US funds while wounded soldiers will still be alive and in need of support. Sounds like some of those NAFO teens interning at UK MOD SMM department and got hold of their twitter handle and are coping hard.

It's always one sided, with an underlying continual thread focused on highlighting Russian MOD failures and/or general deterioration while omitting or rarely talking about Ukraine which are just as bad if not worse.

It's propaganda designed to induce a feeling that they are losing. Pretty much all of the ISW/UK MOD whatever other 'official' western intelligence sources you find online try to do this.
