No, it's certainly not unwarranted and they have plenty of enemies trying to subvert them.

It's about being self-consistent. You cannot support restriction of speech in one scenario and denounce it in the other, full stop. It's just straight inconsistent hypocrisy. Either you support freedom of speech or you don't - picking and choosing who gets to censor people is just taking sides i.e. war.

What country is self consistent when it comes to freedom of speech? What would you consider the most free speech supporting country?

Russian Offensive Campaign Assessment, September 29, 2023

Key Takeaways:

Ukrainian forces continued counteroffensive operations in western Zaporizhia Oblast and in the Bakhmut area on September 29.
The Russian government announced details about the semi-annual conscription cycle set to begin on October 1 in most of Russia, reportedly including the illegally annexed territories in Ukraine.
Russian President Vladimir Putin met with Russian Deputy Defense Minister Yunus-Bek Yevkurov and former Wagner Group commander and current Ministry of Defense (MoD) employee Andrey Troshev on September 29 signaling that Putin will likely back the MoD in its apparent competing effort with the Russian National Guard (Rosgvardia) to recruit current and former Wagner personnel.
The Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) is likely supporting amendments to a Russian State Duma bill that would expand its tools of digital authoritarianism to surveil users of Russian internet, banking, and telecom companies.
The apparent self-censorship in the wider Russian information space has likely opened the door for some fringe elements to directly criticize and speculate about senior Russian military commanders without pushback.
Russian forces conducted offensive operations along the Kupyansk-Svatove-Kreminna line, near Bakhmut, along the Avdiivka-Donetsk City line, in the western Donetsk-eastern Zaporizhia Oblast border area, and in western Zaporizhia Oblast and advanced in some areas on September 29.
Russia may be continuing attempts to circumvent sanctions through military-technical cooperation with Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) member countries.
Russia is relaxing passport controls on Ukrainian citizens leaving and entering Russia likely in an attempt to simplify the movement of Ukrainian citizens to Russia.

No one is suprised anyway, there's tons of people jailed for political reasons in Russia, it's time to sort out numbers.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Freedom_of_speech_by_country#Russia

As of December 2022, more than 4,000 people were prosecuted under "fake news" laws in connection with the war in Ukraine.[219] On 17 April 2023, Russian opposition politician and anti-war activist Vladimir Kara-Murza was convicted on charges of treason and "spreading disinformation" about the Russian military, and sentenced to 25 years in prison.[220] Kara-Murza's conviction is the longest sentence for political activity since the fall of the Soviet Union, and the length of the sentence is comparable only to Stalin's purges in the 1930s.

supporting a state imprisoning old sick and deaf grandmas for liking a post on social media, advocating for tracking their ips and imprisoning them all is definitely fascism. Your justification for oppressing people is a propaganda piece.

you are a fascist.

Ah interesting, where in South America?

They may not care about you saying you are left or right but if you started spreading communist ideology and organizing people you might experience a different response, just as an example, obviously it would vary depending on the country but I don't think absolute freedom of speech exists anywhere really. Doesn't mean it isn't something to strive for but i think it runs contrary to human nature in a lot of instances.

Never supported to jail "deaf grandma"... On the other hand I think it would be ok to trace people who are actively trying to spread ruscist propaganda.
This is what i wrote previously: "supporting genocidal regime ? Even if many case are simply disabled people, I can understand it's a direct threat and i wish they find back all IPs & locations of these fuckers."

What's this grandma farting story exactly ? Link me the source please, or get good for ever into the oblivion.

For the few i remember in all the news i read: There are stories of father or mother getting jailed for likes on social medias... But it was in Russia or in Occupied territories.

, can you link the source regarding the "grandma jailed by ukrainian justice for doing likes on social medias" ?

Thanks in advance everyone.

You literally quoted a reply to the story and said you support it, it doesn't matter if it actually exists or not at this point. Without even knowing if it's true, you said

You are the one who read that people (and you even explicitly acknowledged these people are disabled so you can't pretend you didn't read it was a disabled grandma) are being imprisoned for "likes" on social media and replied this. You support fascism.

Ofc, it's perfectly ok to trace people who are actively supporting a genocidal regime - considering there's a war running - . Information is a weapon, after that i never said these people would have to be killed or jailed for years, we are not in Russia.

Btw maybe people like you who are just shit-trolling around should be included too

Do you think Ukraine is a fascist state if they are imprisoning people (notably disabled grandmas) for hitting the like button on social media? Or would you support that?
