Welp. There needed to be a fall guy to take the heat.

Extraditing a 98yr old seems pointless, it's effectively a death sentence. Unless there's real proof he committed atrocities just let him be. Poland being kind of cringe with this ask.

So why Putin, who invited and decorated a nazi, didn't resign ?

I’m honestly surprised Rota resigned. Looks like my earlier rant about this being premeditated is wrong and people do realize now what has transpired after the fact and want to distance themselves from this fiasco.

Extraditing a 98 year old is indeed death sentence, but that did not stop prosecution of Nazis before. We will see if Polish will dig up his story to have legal grounds for extradition.

Or NATO is an omniscient force and this is 10D chess from Trudeau.

Savage way to smoke your career as house speaker though ^^

Doubt its NATO 10D chess.

What a stupid way to go out. Guy spent almost 80 years flying under the radar only to have his granddaughter serve her “dedo” a solid. I do not envy what a mess his family is going through right now privately and publicly. Online mobs are toxic and there will be plenty of angry people in schools and at work. They didn’t do any of the killing, were not involved, but their personal lives are probably a mess right now because of their granddad.

Well he probably resigned because this has become politically toxic for Trudeau, doesn't necessarily disprove what you wrote earlier IMO, if what you said was true Rota would still have been used as the scapegoat. Either way, good he is gone, he seems incompetent at best.

I'm curious why Hunkas family didn't question why he was being honored in parliament, even if he isn't extradited he and his family are probably going to face issues because of this, maybe they didn't think he would be mentioned specifically.

That was sarcasm.

The guy is 98. For all intents and purposes he is already out.

Russia has already won the war. Ukraine will likely lose statehood and become a province of Russia - we could see Kiev being renamed Putingrad

The recent Nazi debacle at the hands of Trudeau & Zelenskyy has put the final nail in the coffin. It is now beyond a reasonable doubt that Ukraine is a Nazi-sympathizing & supporting state.

Woke governments are collapsing. Any pro-Ukraine sentiments are purely copium at this point

What's wrong with the death sentence for this guy? He literally burned hundreds of people alive, no exaggeration

Even I don’t see this happening and I’ve probably been the most vocal guy here recently inserting my opinions left and right.

Russians can’t get the rest of Ukraine and definitely cannot and could never govern West of Ukraine effectively (Polish ancestry, Catholics, Strong independence movement since the 1910s).

I do not see Russia overtaking Kiev anytime soon based on the dynamics we see on the battlefield unless a ceasefire so ridiculously lopsided is signed that forks Kiev over. Russia needs to mobilize millions to have a shot at an operation this big.

Best they can do is probably try to reach for Odessa in 2024 if the whole thing is not over by then.

Hyperbolic take, but the writing is on the wall, Ukraine won't be able to re-take most of it's territories. They will eventually sign some peace agreement where they will get back Kherson and Zap (Russia already basically said they'd be willing to give them back) while Donbass and Crimea will remain Russian. The country will require a ton of financial help and support, which naturally the EU will be left holding the bag (mostly Germany and the other rich EU nations). There's going to be a lot of internal strife and finger pointing. It's difficult to know what Ukraine will look like in 10, 20 years but optimistically, they get admitted into EU, EU basically subsidizes them for many years and they start to resemble something like the Baltic states, eventually contributing with their grain & crop exports. I could see some friction with countries like Poland and other heavy food exporters in the surrounding as they would want to gobble up market share post the war.

The longer they delay this outcome the, the more people will die needlessly, the more people will continue to get out of the country, further constraining any hope to successfully & speedily getting back on track. War is not an option long term and they are already reaching the point of military exhaustion.
