Yea I love this thread…I really enjoy everyone’s take and it’s good that we’re all talking. I’ll speak with you more about your job- I read your reply and Malopox’s…just didn’t wanna keep talking about whiskey here.

I’ve experienced issues my whole life. For a long time I even went by a different name up until high school (grade 9)…and I experienced crap in HS as well, from teachers nonetheless. But I learned to tune out bullshit and stick to facts. Anywhere at anytime people will give you crap- just get thicker skin.

I don’t agree with Putin and his actions but he is a nationalist. I love America but I was born in Russia and I love Russia- have so many fond memories and experience there too. I consider myself an American Russian. What connects me, I’m also a nationalist.

I can’t speak for the Russian side- I love them but I haven’t spent the majority of my life there. So, I love America- why? It’s home, they’re so many good people and good people in all places- just have to live life and tune out the bullshit.

My mother said, worst thing about this war is people killing people…let alone 2 countries who have such a history. It sucks. America? It lost its identity in my eyes- and worse of all, people with bad compasses are prevailing under/inside the current chaos.

My advice to you is, make money elsewhere and buy whisky to drink or setup your own whisky bar.

If you love something too much, there is a chance you might not make a good living out of it.

That’s good advice.
I am currently in outside jail- I had an experience and I owe money until I’m 41- currently 33. I’m in a bind- luckily, I have a great boss, a wonderful wife and good support. Once I’m done with this debt, I will take a leap of faith and do some of the things I truly want.

My biggest dream- to open a sandwich shop and also serve some alcohol. I’ll have a hang out spot for all and any people…have a table tennis in the back and play people for their tab…it’s a pipe dream…but money isn’t the goal of life- money actually is a lot of work. If one wants to be happy, just enjoy!

You’re all good fellas! Let me point out- everyone makes good points… would it be so crazy if we can all find a common ground and stand for our point together? After all- that’s what brought us here. Dunno about you guys, but I found this site when I was younger and played D2- this game brought us all together. If we had fun and communicated then, what happened?

Another saying (I’m sure I’ve bored all to death with these), but mom said- if there’s an issue, look for the resolution within yourself? Hint: treat yourself as the cause, rectify it.

It’s easy to point a finger. It’s adversity and the path of more resistance that proves character

One of the better interviews I've seen that talks about the US-China geopolitical tug of war from a long time insider and Graham Allison. We need more of these conversations reflected in our media today instead of yes-man. Graham is obviously an insider, so you expect him to be pro-establishment but I still think it was a very strong interview.

Don't like to ping people but I will because i think it's that good

I mentioned about Professor Allison a number of times un this thread. I read his stuff.

Founding Dean of Havard Kennedy School of Public Policy.
Was under Kissinger tutelage.
Colleague of Samuel Huntington.
Colleague of Francis Fukuyama.

He and Robert Blackwill was one of the last few scholars who spent hours with Lee Kuan Yew before he passed away.

His book on Cuban missile crisis and Destined for war is a must read.
I think he coined the term Thucydides Trap.

At his opposite end in Havard is Professor Joseph Nye who view the situation between China and US as a Kindleberger Trap.

I really like Graham. Thanks for posting.

Ah that sucks! I dont doubt it though, there is a lot of misconceptions and stereotypes about Russians in North America, most of what people know about it is just factoids about the Soviet Union it seems.

I don’t agree with any war but unfortunately they do happen and IMO the best way to avoid them is to avoid the conditions that lead to them, which is why I'm more critical of western countries than Russia even though they are invading Ukraine. I feel this all could have been avoided if western countries (namely the US) had acted diplomatically instead of being increasingly aggressive and disrespectful. So while I don't think Putin is good I understand his actions and think they were inevitable.

Yeah the shared history makes it seem worse, like two family members fighting. It would be kind of like if the US invaded Canada. I've read articles about there being many people fighting on opposite sides of the war who are related, which is really sad.

I would like it to stop ASAP but I don't think Russia will stop until they feel secure and I don't think Ukraine will stop as long as they are being supplied with everything they need by the west.

He is pro establishment but he isn't a shill, I think that is the difference with people like Graham. I disagree with some of his opinions but if the establishment was full of people like him I don't think things would be such a circus.

The AI conversation was kind of funny, they talked about how in China the AI wouldn't differ from Xi's personal opinions on certain topics like democracy, freedom, etc. Having messed around with chat GPT quite a bit in its various iterations, I can say it isn't exactly free and open either though, it has become increasingly censored in what it can say on topics like social justice issues. That may not be government mandated but the effect is the same and I think it is debatable whether it is better for the government or private business to be in control of censorship.

Other than that I thought it was great though. I didn't realize how accomplished Graham was, quite the resume in the intro.

When was the last post you made about Ukraine or Russia in this Ukraine/Russia thread?
Do you at least have any youtube videos explaining how the western collapse is imminent and China plans on invading the moon by 2025?

I'd suggest if you have 10 off topic posts per 1 on topic post, then perhaps use the PM function.

Edit: For the inevitable dizzybusiness flame response, just slurp down some maple syrup, relax and continue to be unimportant.

Don't quote me stalker. The comment is not meant for you. Don't be so needy for attention.

You have low level understanding of this conflict. You should lay low.

So if it is confirmed that Ukraine will be given ATACM's will we see those that argued against further support admit they were wrong?
Those that argued Russia would escalate further; In a war where they have already made every conventional escalation possible.

Hopefully we can see some humility out of those posters so consistently fail to shoulder the burden of truth.
