TLDR: America / Russia ~ Gas. So what. Ultimately China will loom over everything. Neither the US, EU or Russia nevermind Africa/South America, have anywhere near the foundation that China is building right now.

here is one (not the one i was looking for)

another one (again, not the one im looking for) - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZFlgAe1GJFI

/e cant find it. basically he was challenged that china didnt have the capability to produce energy. Musk outlined that they are doing EVERYTHING. i.e. wind, solar, nuclear. If its a race, they are clearly winning while everyone is stuck in the sandpit.

WIND:

No.1 for winder energy in the world?

China built more new windfarm capacity in 2020 than the whole world combined in the year before, leading to an annual record for windfarm installations despite the Covid-19 pandemic.

A study has revealed that China led the world’s biggest ever increase in wind power capacity as developers built almost 100GW worth of windfarms last year – enough to power almost three times the number of homes in the UK and a rise of nearly 60% on the previous year.

Most of the world’s new windfarms were built onshore, which more than offset a drop of 20% in the new wind power capacity built at sea.

The report, by Bloomberg New Energy Finance, found that China built more than half of the world’s new wind power capacity. Its onshore and offshore windfarms grew by almost 58GW last year, more than the world’s combined wind power growth in 2019.

SOLAR:

I dont even know what I'm reading other then they are no.1 on the planet for solar power.

NUCLEAR:

True. But this does not mean that we should already enshrine a timeline for the complete decarbonization before the technologies to replace fossils with even exist. Renewables still cannot provide base load in the power grid. The worldwide uranium supplies are not sufficient to last us more than 10-20 years if the whole world drastically expanded its use of nuclear energy. Nuclear power is a key bridge technology, but it is not a long-term solution.

To get back on topic a bit more: what is Russia gonna do when theworld gets off oil and gas? That's quite literally all their economy has to offer. Sales of arms, wood and mail brides aren't gonna sustain a nation of 140 million.

This isn't happening any time soon. The infrastructure, metals and storage capacity to be able to move off completely from fossil fuels is at minimum multiple decades away. Just to give you an idea, this is what some scientists are saying in what it would take for a tiny island like England to completely electrify their vehicles.

Quote
To replace all UK-based vehicles today with electric vehicles (not including the LGV and HGV fleets), assuming they use the most resource-frugal next-generation NMC 811 batteries, would take 207,900 tonnes cobalt, 264,600 tonnes of lithium carbonate (LCE), at least 7,200 tonnes of neodymium and dysprosium, in addition to 2,362,500 tonnes copper.

This represents just under two times the total annual world cobalt production, nearly the entire world production of neodymium, three quarters the world’s lithium production and at least half of the world’s copper production during 2018. Even ensuring the annual supply of electric vehicles only, from 2035 as pledged, will require the UK to annually import the equivalent of the entire annual cobalt needs of European industry.

my point for the dump above is, if you want to stay ahead you have to be building for the future. And bluntly no one is doing it better then China while everyone else is too busy with Biden vs Trump, America vs Russia, Brexit vs EU and what not. its all such a farse. When I look at this current conflict I honestly look at it from a world view and ask why the hell did we allow it to get to this point. its so stupid.

its nice to have shitloads of space and literally wastelands that offer opportunities where wind and solar are actually worth it, but your second part is the actually important one

nuclear power is the future, its inevitable

as outlined by another user, medium long term its a case of using different energy sources.

Not really. Gas is a lot cheaper as a fuel source than oil and we've got another 50 years of it

Easier said than done. Iran is also an aspiring regional power with less than noble ambitions. The Jews aren't going to sit idly by as Europe enriches their arch nemesis. Nor will the Arabs take that type of move too well. So then what do you do with unhappy Arab monarch allies who account for so much oil exports?

It's business. They're diversifying away from fossil fuels as it is, and Iran will always be a regional power with their population and reserves

'The Jews' will just have to deal withi it

Zelensky is trying to start ww3 since he knows it is the only thing that will save his bacon.

At the expense of the rest of the planet, of course. But clearly Ukraine's leadership feels entitled to sacrifice the world to save their petty lives.
