I think you have it backwards. The bar has been raised, but the media is still using bombshell in the pre-Trump context. A president's personal lawyer testifying to Congress about hush money payments to pornstars, which were campaign finance violations, is a bombshell, but since it's Trump, it's just another day in Washington.
Also, Cohen reportedly won't talk about Russiagate in the public setting.
i can agree to an extent, but still dont think bombshell applies. its an announcement of a guy testifying that we already figured would, on subjects we already knew about. Now if his lawyer said "Michael will also share information he has about the POTUS's direct ties to Russia" (presumably new info) i'd agree it's a bombshell. regardless of era this seems like a pretty mundane thing, which could yield bombshells once he actually sits before congress.
