That 3% isn't accurate accounting because you fail to take into account the costs of inflation, the energy crisis last year and costs for NATO allies (the Euros) that were hit particularly hard by their own sanctions.
Also this has just started and has the potential to drag on for years.
3% is still accurate, as its the % of our military budget.
but you can balloon it to 10% or w/e as a "real cost" and its still better than what we spent in Iraq and Afghanistan. drag on for years? did u miss the middle east wars? they took decades.
you can try and spin this however you want, it's still basic math. the afghan and iraq war cost about 4-5 trillion dollars, at the minimum, in early 2000s $.
so that's 4000 billion. since Biden took office we've sent about 75 billion $. without even taking into account inflation, because im lazy, the war needs to drag on for about 53x as long as it already has.
but who knows, maybe Putin's grandson will sign the peace treaty.
