I think it's not a good thing for Putin (-- considering it was at his wil --) :

- Russians are allowed to shut it up and to get meat grinded: Evgueni Prigojine was/is very popular and this will not help for mobilization or motivation, on the contrary it will more likely encourage people in joining dissidence groups or to inform themselves more.
- Elites are already aware of Putin's cold and barbaric methods, so this move is only pushing for more internal unstability. Increasing internal tensions.
