I don't think there's a unified message from the Trump cult. Some think Cohen is lying, including Trump, even though Giuliani said Trump's written answers match Cohen's. Fortunately you can't really argue with documentary evidence like emails. It's hard to maintain a coherent message when a president and his supporters are so untethered from the truth.
Calling them "process crimes" is just an attempt to minimize though. I don't know what false equivalence you're referring to.
Agreed, there are a bunch of mixed messages.
Brenda Snipes, John Podesta, and Debbie Wasserman Shultz at a minimum deserve a short federal sentence for the shenanigans they've pulled. Jeffrey Epstein was another unfortunate slip because of his being well connected, that one was a Republican's fault though. I won't even mention the princess.
