And that's where the self-destructiveness comes from. We're getting the worse half. In what was already the poorest country of europe, we're getting the worthless part, and its now also bombed to rubble, depopulated, totally dependent on our handouts, and yet also filled with heavy weaponry and ideological extremists who fought a proxy war on our behalf, a recipe which has reliably backfired on us every single time. The Taliban? ISIS? Now we're arming literal nazi war criminals, what could go wrong. And that's all besides sabotaging our petrodollar hegemony and severing with the one world power that could have joined us against China.

Mostly agree, besides a few points. You can't compare the snackbars and Ukrainians IMO. There's an underlying religious zeal (with this Islamic fundamentalists) there driving them to blow themselves up and be a thorn in western countries, not wanting to integrate, being hostile, etc. I don't think far-right Ukrainians will have the same issues and they will probably be fine. You could see Europe have an uptick in organized crime and you might see a ton of weapons flowing out of Ukraine and into central Europe. I think that's a real concern post war, what happens to literally billions in arms there, undoubtedly many will end up on the black market.

There's no way to spin this as a positive for Europe because they're about to be left holding the bag, but I think driving the Germans & other euros to be reliant on US LNG may be a positive for us. I mean we're going to make so much money off them. Dumb fucks really gave up cheap Russian pipeline gas and in return are just getting more refugees, more mouths to feed, being forced to give more aid, etc. Point is, a Europe more reliant on US may be a net good for us, certainly as we can rip them off selling LNG and overpriced American weapons.

Neoliberals in Washington had this peculiar streak of Ukrainian nationalism, which partly we can chalk up to Joe Biden micromanaging the coup for Obama and getting in bed with them, but notably included bureaucrats of Ukrainian descent pushing for the war, who existed in government either way
There were a lot of people pushing for their own interests in Ukraine, which didn't align with our national interests. That's some parts inherent to a large unruly democracy compared to the centralized pseudodictatorship of Russia, but what's more problematic is how we removed all the safeguards and accountability that should have stopped it from getting out of control. And thats how we wind up with NYT articles explaining why we need to lock up Trump for telling people to peacefully let their voices be heard while rationalized why Joe Biden should skate on taking $10 million in bribes

The neoliberals to me just seem like liberal flavored neoconservatives, how would you distinguish the two groups from one another?

The only US politician I know of Ukrainian descent is that Spartz woman, is there more high level ones?

The Biden bribe stuff doesn't make a alot of sense to me, couldn't he have just made millions having someone ghostwrite a book no one would ever read and some lobbyist speaking engagements? Seems wild they would incriminate themselves like that for 10 mil

There is enough information in the public domain relating to Bidens focus on Ukraine, for a protracted period of time, for people to make up their own minds. Ultimately US foreign policy is basically broken right now (and for the foreseeable future)

It's 100% broken. Our foreign policy has not matched the will of the people for many years now. It's incredible how these people can waste trillions of dollars and embroil us in global issues with no accountability or general support by the people. It doesn't matter the political party you vote for because both are hostage to this military industrial complex. The recent vote to not have oversight over how tens to hundreds of billions are being thrown around for Ukraine is unthinkable. Like how is this possible in a modern western democratic society?

Bush is what started this path. Not Biden not Obama and not Trump. Those 3 contributed to lesser and greater degrees but it all started with missiles in Europe to defend against terrorists with imaginary nukes despite Russia vehemently being opposed and publically declaring that they were going to start modernizing their military and developing weapons specifically to counter Bush's missiles in Europe. Ukraine is a convenient punching bag for all sides. An opportunity to flex without any real threat to the homeland.

I have a feeling when we look at a truly long view of the world, 'holding more resources' trumps 'having more people buy your resources'. Russia may be showing us that example with our toothless sanctions. Could we have sold our LNG either way? Or used it ourselves?

I don't, most people don't

One of the dangers of a bureaucracy is power being given to people with no public accountability. Staffers, mid level officials, agents, all with significant sway over US policy despite not being elected officials.
Alexander Vindman was one such example, but so was Eric Ciaramella, the """"whistleblower"""" in the Trump impeachment who just so happened to be a hardcore supporter of Ukrainian nationalism and who participated directly in Joe Biden's intervention in the Maidan.

Perhaps he could have, but Joe Biden had just lost his favored son and had his prodigal son spending $200,000 per month on hookers, blow and porsches. He hooked his son up with money from the family name and his son loudly complained that Joe was keeping half for himself. And he did it by getting in bed with an oligarch in Ukraine and doing his bidding, and it has a direct nexus to the Ukraine war we're in right now.

I very much doubt that if Beau had lived, Joe Biden would go down this route. Its pretty easy to see how the extreme turmoil in his family (read ANY of the biden texts from the laptop) could lead to this

I remember Vindman but completely forgot about Ciaramella, interesting he was involved with Maidan and all of that, I'll have to read up on him. Sounds like a spook.

That all makes sense to me, I think overall my problem with it is that I can't imagine someone as high level as Biden being able to get into this type of hole without some CIA dude knocking on his front door

I'm not denying he got the money, I saw your other thread and it seems pretty blatant with all the messages and everything, but just have a gut feeling there is more to it, hard not to think everything is some sort of psyop when the government is such a clownshow lol

I cant imagine living in a dystopian shithole where they lock innocent men up for political reasons while lying to the public. In unrelated news, officer Tou Thao was sentenced to more than five years in the George Floyd case

Seems like a win in the country where anyone who displeases Putin supposedly gets tossed out of a window or poisoned lol
