On the heels of the Africa-Russia summit in which Putin basically tried to woo Africa with free food, a coup happened in the country of Niger. What I find really interesting here is how so many people in these poorer African countries are showing such public support for Russia, waving Russian flags regularly. Who had it on their bingo cards that in the summer 2023 Russia would be so isolated and weakened that pretty much all of Africa would be going to a summit in Russia meanwhile coups in Africa against pro-western governments would be happening? Wagner recently came out in support of the coup and offering their 'security services'. Fascinating times.

Neo-populism in Africa against old world countries.
- "Oh look! It's all ancient colonist's fault" bashing to hide domestic issues => Conclusion; Putin must be the good guy.
- Wagner services are much "better" for reckless dictators => There's not much NGOs in Russia to denounce Wagner's crimes and massacres.
Without the presence of the west they would probably have been literally exterminated but anyway....
