That is not what was asked. The war has started, and wishing it away doesn't answer a question about what's your ideal end for it.
We don't have enough info to tell the outcome. MSM is lying, Ukraine is lying and Russia is lying. The counter-offensive isn't working as hoped, can't even breach the first line of defense in 6 weeks. Russia doesn't seem to have the means to conquer Ukraine as well. Looks like a stalemate and a war of attrition. An agreement is going to be reached when one of the parties runs out of resources. As of now, Ukraine looks more likely to crumble given time than Russia. The problem is Russia is unlikely to agree to another Minsk III agreement type because the previous ones weren't honored at all. An agreement would effectively freeze the conflict for the upcoming years to start anew.
Conclusion: Russia is going to try to achieve as much as possible with their means until they can't anymore. It's not about Ukraine anymore. Ukraine can't negotiate anything because Russia isn't interested. We, the west, should support Ukraine with everything possible with the thought in mind there is going to be a time after the war.
