I think corrupt institutions, especially at the local level, need accountability. If the state has a monopoly on violence, they need to be careful with administering said violence. I would know, I'm a big government bootlicker.

And big state authoritarians should be the angriest when state authority is shaken by small-minded, corrupt officials. But lawlessness and riots are just other forms of rot. Both require surgery.

Yes, and at a certain point what you support comes into conflict with the ideals and at that point you can claim ideals all you want but you're not actually holding them.
