thats true but ive heard the narrative of wuhan as an area like that and the reality of it are out of line. one expert questioned if bats are even in the wet market in the timeframe its been claimed that was ground zero. i just think someone fucked up, scary shit, but we'll never know.
There's no reason to assume it originated in the wet market. Wuhan is a hotspot for rural travelers.
There's two realistic scenarios for the viruses origin that I currently see
1. Rural farmers working around and going into bat caves for fertilizer got infected and slowly spread it around rural China. At some point, a rural chinese person traveled to the city and it began spreading very quickly around the wet market now that it's in a more dense area with lots of close contact and travel.
2. Rural workers got infected some years ago and Chinese health experts were called in. Samples were taken and stored, but never analyzed and the virus didn't travel to the city because of isolation protocol by the health professionals. At some point during a clean out or just from poor technique, one of those samples infects a lab worker who then goes to the wet market. This is basically the first scenario, but instead of direct transfer it's stored in a lab for a while and then gets out.
