The only people who claim we live like kings in the first world are those who have never lived without. That's great for you, but I have and know plenty of people who have gone hungry for several days to save money.
The vast majority of people in poverty in the USA are clinically, morbidly - obese. They eat like kings.
They all have cell phones. They have the knowledge of kings at their fingertips.
They have access to transportation - cheap public transportation with robust infrastructure. Though this isn't enviable in America, most 3rd world countries would kill to travel in this manner.
Americans can make human waste disappear with the push of a button, into first world infrastructure - seemingly like magic. 3rd world people shit next to where they sleep and are covered in flies.
What are we - if not kings?
