Pretty much. People want some form of justice in these types of cases, where there is clear excessive use of force and disregard for the life of American citizens.
I think most of the problem with police would be solved if we just got rid of or reduced like 3 things.
1. Asset forfeiture, so the police can't just literally steal your shit and you have to sue to get it back.
2. Limit qualified immunity. In it's current form you can do something as long as it hasn't been ruled that you can't do exactly that. I.e. a cop got off for using a taser on a pregnant woman on the ground because that very specific situation hadn't been clarified as being illegal.
3. Require prosecutors to be from another jurisdiction, or otherwise independent in charging the officers. A prosecutor works closely with police departments so having them charge officers is a clear conflict.
