I think what IceMage wants to say, and wants to see happen, is a president in a role like Bill Clinton working with Congress during the 90s. Clinton provided leadership on some policy aspects, sometimes laid out lines for compromise. And when necessary, he scolded Congress and told them to get their shit together - and had the authority and public standing for his calls to actually mean something.
