Maybe poking the bear isn't the best strategy if you are all so scarred by your last encounter, I'm sure the fence will keep them at bay though
I wonder if Russia has any history with foreign powers invading through Ukraine that might evoke similar feelings lol.
As an expert on WW2, could you perhaps shed some light on that?
Finland now has a dragon behind it so it can poke the bear all it wants. Not poking the bear is exactly what Finland did during the Cold War, and, and it turned out to happen at the expense of dignity.
But who or what is Russia? It's "free" people? Imo Russia is a rogue state, and that state cares fuck all for its people. This Ukraine war is all about the internal power struggle of the oligarchs. "Russia strong" is one of the key elements of staying in power. A West-aligned semi-Russophone "brotherly nation" of 40 mill is a threat to those in power, not the Russian people.
Russia isn't scared of NATO and in WW2 there was the threat of having one totalitarian system overrun by another one, in an era of conventional warfare withou nukes. Now Russia has nukes, and a totalitarian enough society to force people into being cannon-fodder and to seize all means of production for maintaining the war machine.
