It's actually quite interesting to ask "who's the power behind Zelensky's throne?"

For example, there is this oligarch who I (and many others) thought to be the puppet maser behind him last year, but upon further reading, that seems to no longer be the case:

I think its a combination of power players in the US and Ukraine.
It can also be Nuland and Biden

Since Biden's held Ukraine's portfolio during Obama's administration as the vice president.

Nuland and Zelensky are basically connected by kinship .

I don’t think it’s a single person or interest. I think in most of these cases it’s a number of interests. Someone like him probably has internal oligarchs, other internal political sects, foreign governments and intelligence services and the list goes on.

I think it’s also the case for Putin. He is ultimately a face of the combined influence of siloviki, oligarchs, and etc. He has to tread the line carefully internally and show force when needed to ensure compliance.

Although I do not wish that he is pepsi'ed , he probably is , if he is in Ukraine. They pretty much mobilized everyone that they had, when Zelensky Wife is shopping for Hermes Birkin Bags in France, with American Tax Payer's money.

As somebody who actually tried to buy one for my wife - it’s impossible to buy Birkin Bag without spending tens of thousands at the boutique for other stuff.

Source - my best buddy’s wife is a sales rep at Hermes boutique in my town - even she can’t help dodge the informal rules.

True. But those guys dodge rules like mad in Hong Kong.
But Zelensky's wife is Zelensky's wife so she will get it no problem. She is the wife of a Hero of the free world currently.

Probably, but I don't think it's to the same extent. I think some of these leaders have inherently more power internally compared to others. If I had to guess someone like Putin, Xi, Erdogan has way more power and pull versus someone like Zelensky, Sunak, Biden. I mean Biden is so controlled that you literally have the secret service on camera dressed as bunnies to 'guide' him away from saying something dumb on camera. Maybe Biden is unique because the level of such obvious handling with him is so blatant and in your face.

Most of these presidents or prime ministers are just public figures with a face and in reality don't actually hold significant power. Zelensky is not a 'real' decision maker in all of this, he's just the face. It's the advisors both in the US to Biden or in Ukraine to Zelensky that actually call the shots and those are not always so easy to fully know who they are.

Deep down I think Zelensky when he ran on a platform of reconciling Ukraine's relationship with Russia was at least somewhat genuine. Problem is, it's next to impossible to be an ideologue, you get molded to what the machine wants or you get spit out. Now he basically has two central roles. Act as the 'defiant' leader and go around the globe to try and collect as much money and support as possible.

I think he was installed as leader by Kolomoisky at the behest of the US neoliberal establishment but I don't think he has ever had much say in it.

My impression is that he was built up as a celebrity in Ukraine, not without merit since he is charming and entertaining, but with the exposure someone like Kolomoisky could give him.

Once he was well known I assume he was presented with the idea of "Servant of the People" which built up the idea of an unqualified nice guy running the country for himself and the rest of Ukraine.

One fairytale anti corruption campaign later and suddenly he realizes he has no idea how to run a country so he has to lean on establishment advisors which continue all the policies and procedures he was elected to stop while escalating the confrontation with Russia which coincidentally lines up nicely with US foreign policy goals.

I think he probably was genuine but isn't particularly smart, at least not when it comes to politics, so he was just used as a tool from the beginning.

Mostly conjecture but it paints him in a more favorable light than if he was aware where his actions would lead the country IMO.

The fence looks really gross, should be a nice wooden one IMO. I like the house though, very pretty
