Anyways. 1914 - 1918 / 1939 - 1946 is too far back , a lot of things Changed , friends became enemies and enemies became friends.
The best gauge in my opinion is to look at the events starting from the dissolution of the Soviet Union up till now. That is a good indication of how the world became Unipolar and now , there is a chance of becoming a multi polar world.

By any luck is it possible, if the cost of the war becomes too big, too visible, for russians, that some revolution or coup occurs, stopping Putin ?
