Cant the hen lay eggs until it is old and dies of age?
A hen can lay eggs until it is 5-6 years old. And then dies because its old and exhausted.
Yes sometimes the farmer kills the old, exhausted hen, but still that makes a pretty good, long life for a hen.
Its not a part of the metaphore, for case of simplicity we can even assume the farmer doesnt kill the hen. Outside of the winter, the free walk old hen can feed itself, just like they do in natural environment, by eating grass, worms, ants. Since it doesnt lay eggs it doesnt need that much food any longer.
On the other hand if hen decides to hang out with a fox, it will die quickly.

this can be a metaphor for alot of things.

Never said that, it is clearly deteriorating. Doesn't means we need to jump in autocratic train. Putting words in others people's mouth is clearly a toxic mentality. Read again.

One can only admire the stamina of the Russian invasion apologists. Repeating same talking points over and over until everyone is exhausted.

The same can be said about the Nato Apologist and vice versa. Ad no one is apologizing for the Russians maybe one or two in the thread.
We are discussing about realpolitik , geo politics and geo economics between great powers , why it happened and how it happened and how we see it in the future.

Who, what , when , why and how. I am sure these 5 very significant words is something most of us have learn in our younger days.

But both Russian Federation and Ukraine did
