Ukraine had a multitude of choices. Don’t forget - Arestovich is a propagandist and a pretty ruthless one at that. He even frames the question as “us or them” without giving it even a second of thought or proposing a solution of peaceful coexistence which are truly European Values.

There is nothing wrong in trying to toe the line without antagonizing your neighbors.

A better comparison would be to think about your neighbour suddenly buying an attack dog, a gun, barbed wire, announcing that it is no longer allowed to speak Polish in Europe as the lingua franca is now English. This is not how you make a peaceful and prosperous society by suppressing minorities and promoting fear and anger.

I agree. That guy was just bad news. He literally is one of the architects for wrecking his own country for a few decades. social justice warrior and all that woke crap et all.

These are not semantics. These are facts.

Ofc when you say "nukes ready" in a deterrence discussion while it's only nuclear tests you are definitely poking yourself on semantics

"Us or them" was obviously a shortcut, but its justified one.
Ukrainians saw what Russia was doing in Belarus, slowly taking IT over.
They knew what Russians were doing between 1945 and 1990.
The knew Putin speeches saying that Ukraine is just a province of Russia.
Stop being naive, after you give control to Russia it never ends in "peaceful coexistance" when it comes to relations with Russia.
South American can have peaceful coexistance with Russia, because they are far away, Russia doesnt plan to expand there.
But they do plan to expand into Ukraine, and the only option to stop it is to say them "niet".
So far the Ukrainians are doing fine defending, but of course I dont know who will win the war, its just too many variables.
For example we know that Putin people were corrupt. And Putin tolerated corruption, as long as the people were loyal to him.
Now he asks his corrupted people to give some of the stolen money back. Obviously they dont like it, but will they listen to him for a long time? Or try to stop the war?

Thanks for reminding all readers about that guy who had a disastrous political career irrespective of poisoning.

Here is a wonderful article from American NPR newspaper from 2010 when it was still allowed to call nazis - nazis and MSM wasn’t controlled by CIA directly (great work by Matt Taibbi uncovering that by the way).

Ever since its independence in 1991, Ukraine has had to grapple with the ethnic divisions, which some (including the CIA) have worried could tear the country apart if someone should exploit it. Making a hero out of Bandera, an ethnic chauvinist and arguably the most divisive Ukrainian figure of the past century, is exactly the sort of reckless move that could cleave Ukraine internally and set off its neighbors.

Like Poland — which until last week had been Yushchenko's biggest supporter (thanks to their shared Russophobia). Bandera's forces slaughtered some 100,000 ethnic Poles in their ethnic cleansing campaign during the thirties and forties, something that hasn't been forgotten but merely shelved for the time being.

You can try to drown the fish with an opinion article: He was still poisoned for a reason. Crushing majority of Ukrainians dont want to be enslaved into Putin's Russia, end of story.

Crushing majority of Ukrainians democratically voted Yuschenko out and even Clinton’s advisors couldn’t help his 5% rating.

Please.

Yushchenko has won the Ukraine presidential elections with 51.99% of votes against 44.2% for pro-Russian Viktor Yanukovich.
He was poisoned in 2004, his poor score in elections several years after does not change anything to the above.

I’m literally showing you - using your own words - that crushing majority of Ukrainians did not like the path that Yuschenko has taken rehabilitating nazi mass murderers and jeopardizing Ukraines foreign policy.

I strongly advise you to refrain from Goebbels style propaganda trying to create animosity and disgust with your racist remarks as well as preying on emotions rather than cold hard facts and honest debate.

Are you actually saying that historic events are relevant ? careful now. perhaps you want to rephrase your comment, noting your stated position that historic events are not relevant.

Lets try this: Do you or do you not now believe that Russia's invasion of Ukraine was Unprovoked?
(a) I conceded the point, from a Russian standpoint the military build up of Ukraine, and them joining Nato was a provocation
(b) No, eventhough I was provided with video's last year (that I did not bother to watch) and posted the same video today, wherein the personal advisor to Zelenksy outlined years prior to the war the course of provocation being taken, I still dont believe that Russia's invasion of Ukraine was provoked.
(c) Other.
