System of a Down is by far the most popular politically-driven band I’ve seen tbh

No way. Rage Against the Machine.

Go back further and you have Propaghandi who also fit the description.

Fugazi went further and was anti-capitalist, started the DIY movement where artists produced and sold music themselves...Fugazi said make your own shirts for our band and the music will stay cheap. Singer of Fugazi was from Minor Threat, which started the straightedge movement in hardcore.

The Clash were very political..."sharia don't like it! Rock the casbah rock the casbah".

SOAD is cool as hell. I listened to them a lot when I was in the army back in the day.

There are far more people here who know RATM than SOAD. I also rate RATM's debut album in my top 10 of all time.

Killing in the Name is a song almost everyone knows. Even SOAD's biggest hits like Toxicity or Chop Suey! aren't as popular.

Here doesn’t mean worldwide...
I’d beg to differ.
