It was the US that put nukes into europe first, in turkey. the russians responded by putting nuclear weapons in cuba. this is historical fact and was called "the cuban missile crisis" (this means it happened, its confirmed and you can read about it).

as part of a resolution to the cuban missile crisis, the US removed the nuclear weapons in Turkey, when things settled down, the US put nuclear weapons back into Turkey. This is not the first time this is mentioned, hopefully it will lodge this time.
