this can also be applied in South Africa, Israel, the middle east or in Asia (i.e. anywhere).
there is a narrative being told in storytime mode in alot of western countries right now, and it is saying that someone is the enemy. that is not necessarily true, but it will be true if governments continue to use that narrative to make it true.
I agree with your sentiment re: Wagner Group, but its not hard to point to double standards where alot of countries, east and west, do bad things. YOU might say yes but that happened years ago, but my response to that is 2000 years is really not a long time in human evolution, so, unfortunately, the horrors of 100 years ago can still repeat themselves yesterday, today and tomorrow.
Countries are not bad, they just all have bad people, bad moral compass and make bad decisions.
You cant' say that the US has more bad people because it has more people (as a %) in prison, You cant' say that Northern Ireland has less bad people because it has less people (as a %) in prison, they have underlying problems, just like China and Russia have underlying problems.
Political ideology, Culture and Type of Government does not dictate who is right or wrong, nor does it say which is the better country. None of these thing make one country better then the other, it makes them different.
In terms of technology, all advanced countries are experimenting with new technology. AI is here and it is both wondrous and terrifying. I watched that video and I was both surprised, shocked horrified scared of the unknown etc, but that technology, and technology like that is being used in the west as well.
The world is changing and there are going to be major shifts in how things are done over the next few decades. In terms of the conflict in Ukraine I keep coming back to the simple notion, how will this war end, and in no scenario do I see a win for Ukraine, unless its won at too great a cost to have been worthwhile. So you can keep on railing against Russia and China but this conflict is the catalyst for sending the world down a path that no sane person should ever want.
