The overall aim of Putin is (from his vantage point ok) to "defend" present and future Russia from (perceived or true) Western Aggression.
So... because Russia's military is unable to accomplish its goals, they are justified in waging a terror campaign against Ukraine's civilians to break their will?
That's like arguing that a rape victim deserves to be beaten to a pulp if it has the audacity to resist.
Look, I get where Russia/Putin are coming from, why they do what they're doing - I just vehemently disagree with the notion that their actions are justified.
