This has all the hallmarks of propaganda and PR tricks and its acting like its any different from the other outlets in the US. Ridiculous. Dont get me wrong, i find the liberal/left-wing channels to be at least equally bad. US media is, sadly, politicized and polarized garbo. Its like Russian media but you just have two variants to cater to two different sets of demographics.

This.

Tucker Carlson is gaining traction and playing his hand extremely well right now as what he says is suddenly in demand. I don’t think he is a bad journalist / media content creator per se. Maybe he is light on journalistic ethics. He is actually scary good at delivery of drama content to get clicks / views for his employer.

Having said all that I just saw his Elon Musk interview and he did exactly what a journalist should do - let the person talk. Unlike that BBC guy who came to throw feces, but got in over his head.

Russian media these days is terrible. You are either Z-patriot who bashes NATO all day and blames everyone, but themselves (self-awareness can land you in jail on treason charges, war time yeeehaww!) or a “liberal-in-exile”-type funded by the likes of Khodorkovsky creating scary stories how rotten everything is without any factual understanding of how stuff works in real life.

On a side note:

I saw this interview with Mr Venediktov (ex-chief of Echo Moscow - major Russian radio) with Owen Matthews - a journalist whom I highly respect. It’s in Russian but has decent English subtitles.

Owen just released a new book about Ukraine/Russia conflict which I preordered and keen to read as I feel he is one of the few guys who can keep his biases in check.

Would be interesting to hear ‘s thoughts on the interview.

Did you read the source or you are dreaming about stuff again Pierre?

There are mobilization notices (to go to Ukraine, at the moment those are sent only to those with military qualifications) and conscription notices (to serve your mandatory 1 year conscription service).

Somebody has posted like 10 pages ago that russia is moving from archaic paper conscription notices to digital ones. Digital ones will be sent in autumn’s conscription wave as soon as legal paperwork is finished and worked out.

Would be interesting to hear ^Norlander ‘s thoughts on the interview.

I had the honor of meeting him in person, so my opinion is biased. The only thing I do not agree with is that only a few support the war. This is, to put it mildly, not true. The older the person is, the farther from large cities he lives, the stronger he supports Putin, his policy.
PS: 2x to speedify ex-chief editor of Gazprom backed media.

yes he is a con-man, this came out during the recent incident on the voting machines. but where did he admit it ? Did he apologise on a Fox News Programme ?

Also, most, if not all, presenters are performers, and they get paid the more they are able to sell something to their audience. in this Tucker Carlsen is just doing the same as everyone else?

Ill also adress your earlier post with this reply.

Thats the thing. Not all presenters are performers in other media outlets. But in a system of commercial news agencies, a charismatic viewer magnet can insult his own agency all he wants, or pretend to be a rebel, yet still be a highly valued employee and bring in viewers while simultaneously giving out a more centrist approach or appearing more critical or whatsoever. Mixing performance arts with journalism isnt a good idea imo, and yes im aware that "neutral anchor" can also be an act.

Maybe this wave of 16 year olds will make all the difference, who knows?

Seems insane but so does debating whether the US should be funding color revolutions and supporting nazi regimes but here we are.

As simple as encouraging message from Zelensky:

Zelenskyy at the International Summit of Cities and Regions in Kyiv: "The Russian state throws people to the front who do not understand what they are dying on our land for. They bring evil, because the russian system exists just like that: it tries to make the abuse of people and the devaluation of life commonplace. And it tries to take it beyond its borders."

"The Ukrainian system, like any normal European system, is completely the opposite. Our strength lies in our people. If we consider this war a confrontation of ideas, together with our victory, we will celebrate the victory of the idea that people are important."

"Instead of the ruins that Russia brings to us, we will rebuild a real Ukrainian life - a European free life. Just as russian aggression caused global negative consequences, the Ukrainian victory should bring the world new security standards, new opportunities to build and defend - together. At the level of states and companies, communities and people."
