firstly id say people who live in the CHOP area have expressed that they hated it, not all of course but plenty. secondly i'd say if we extend it beyond CHOP to interstate blocking generally its been a bother in many places, especially in sprawled out areas like LA. they dont do it because its not an issue, they do it specifically because of how much of a hassle it causes. lastly these arent exactly facebook events, so it cant be planned around. you just find yourself in it.

thats in contrast to say Kaep's taking a knee, where it does get a lot of attention but doesnt actually hurt anyone. the "im done with the NFL" snowflakes either were never fans or are liars who still watch.

I don't think its a daily effect on a majority of people there is a small group that for sure are WAAY too inconvenienced over this stuff. They have a right to be pissed. And TBH I don't know if its just Seattle, but you can find out pretty quickly where the protesting usually happens.. I can off the top of my head tell you.. 1st ave May day or Westlake plaza WTO. Capital hill and I5 directly West of it. (where the guy got on the ramp the wrong way to run over ther protestors) I can maneuver around the city daily with almost zero issues. and pretty sure Seattle has more protests than most. To your point however yes sometimes it fucks up peoples days/weeks if it directly effects their home/work. This stretch in our country is a pretty rare event.

Oh man this is exciting. Portland was plastic shields, leaf blowers, violent spray paint, and moms. Detroit and Cleveland and Chicago are going to actually be warfare. Although I disagree that it would give Trump a better chance. That wouldn't be a foreign attack kind of thing that can drive up his chances. It's internal strife, which is bad for a sitting president.

Not if the federal contractors are losing. Suburbanite voters are going to want Biden to negotiate peace at that point. It will be obvious the problem exploded only as a result of Trump being an arrogant dumbass.

My basic assumption is the following: a lot of those white suburbanites who are trending Democratic in the era of Trump are appalled and disgusted by his crude and on the nose messaging, by his brazen appeals to the people's inner bigot. But if push really comes to shove, when they are asked to follow up their virtue signalling with actuals actions and sacrifice which would have a tangible impact on their own lives, they would back down. My assumption is that a ton of them are "faux woke" and would put on a MAGA-hat in a heartbeat if they felt like the others were genuinely coming for their privilege and wealth (and not just the privilege and opportunity of uneducated rednecks from which the upscale suburbanites want to distinguish themselves anyway).

So if the social unrest in the country came to a point where it looks like the government might really lose control, where it looks like a real possibility that some sort of revolution upends the order and hierarchy of the American society, they would revert back into police-loving law and order voters.
